Author Policy: Plagiarism and Screening

Jurnal Litbang Polri requires all authors to uphold scientific integrity and publication ethics, particularly in terms of work originality. Every manuscript submitted for publication must be the author's original work and must not be under review or previously published elsewhere.

Author Responsibilities Regarding Plagiarism

Authors are required to:

  • Ensure that all parts of the manuscript (text, data, images, tables, and references) are free from any form of plagiarism

  • Provide accurate citations and proper attribution for all sources or third-party works used

  • Avoid excessive self-plagiarism, i.e., repeating substantial parts of previously published work without proper acknowledgment

  • Avoid duplicate submissions, i.e., submitting the same or very similar manuscripts to more than one journal simultaneously

Editorial Screening Process

All submitted manuscripts will undergo an initial screening by the editors, which includes:

  • Assessing the manuscript’s relevance to the journal's scope

  • Plagiarism checks using detection software such as Turnitin or iThenticate

  • Analyzing the similarity index based on the plagiarism detection report

Similarity Tolerance Limit

  • Jurnal Litbang Polri enforces a maximum overall similarity limit of 20%

  • If substantial similarity is found in critical sections such as the abstract, introduction, results, or discussion, the manuscript will be immediately rejected, even if the total similarity score is below the threshold

Sanctions for Plagiarism

If a violation of the plagiarism policy is detected, the following sanctions may apply:

  • Immediate rejection of the manuscript

  • Retraction of the article if it has already been published

  • Formal notification to the author’s affiliated institution

  • Blacklisting of the author from future submissions to the journal

Statement of Originality

As part of the submission process, authors are required to include a statement of originality and publication ethics, confirming that:

  • The manuscript is the author’s original work

  • It contains no plagiarism

  • It is not under review by another journal

  • It has been approved by all contributing authors

Through this policy, Jurnal Litbang Polri is committed to maintaining quality, scientific honesty, and academic reputation in support of knowledge development and professionalism within the Indonesian National Police.
